The Pilgrim’s Route, also known as St. Olav’s Way or the Old Kings’ Road is a pilgrimage route from the ancient part of Oslo (Norway’s Capital) to the Nidaros Cathedral, the site of the medieval tomb of St. Olav.
Being the oldest known route over the Dovrefjell mountains, there is clear evidence that it was heavily used in the early Norwegian Iron Age and it’s said that every kind of Norway traveled this route — from here the name of “The King’s Road”.
Along the way there are important historical and cultural landmarks, untouched nature and medieval farms with local culinary traditions.
